It is what it is......
Tom Brady is down for the year. Deal with it! I was watching the play and there is just no way to avoid what happened. It wasn't a dirty hit. "It is what it is...."-Bill Belichick...there is no other apt description. There has to be a backup plan and now the Patriots will test it. Tom Brady didn't play in the pre-season...was this a good decision...probably. Do you think Manning looked comfortable in his first game back from his surgery? He looked like a deer in the headlights...the Colts got run over by the Bears....just killed. I picked the Colts in the elimination pool because it was their first game in their new stadium etc. I didn't account for the fact that Manning sat out the whole pre-season ala Tom Brady...I just thought it was another precaution. I wonder if Phillip Rivers did permanent damage to his knee in the AFC title game against the Pats? He had a torn ACL no? 130 games straight is a great accomplishment for Brady but injuries happen. It could be worse...it could have happened right before the playoffs. Now they can do something about it. It's a bad beat but who wants to hear about bad beats anymore? Deal with it and lets see if they prepared for the worst case scenario. By the way....Brett Favre should have stayed retired. I hope he throws those hail mary passes this week. I won't matter if the Patriots have a QB if the defense gets their hands on those meatballs.......

Are you ready for some FOOTBALLLLLL!!!!!
Sweet....sweet football season...glad you are back. Last year hurt but we start anew. Once again my favorite time of the sports year is upon us. Baseball playoffs, Football start up, Fantasy sports heaven, Hockey soon (I'm a recovering Bruins fan from way back...still won't go but will watch on TV). I am looking forward to seeing what the Pats do this year to correct last years problems (Not sure if the O-line is any better....I just hope it's not worse than the last two games of the year) as I am very concerned with the DB's. How freakin' good is Dustin Pedroia? He's carrying the team on his back. Let's hope J. Beckett and maybe one other starter comes back otherwise we be in trouble. I in position to win a rotisserie league on Yahoo! Hopefully the cash will be mine at the end.
Once again I entered the weekly junk-kick tourney otherwise known as the 'Mookie'....and one again I lose most of my stack with a dominant hand. No details....but you are screwed at the 'Mookie' with a short stack near the final table. I did win something last night....I won a PUSHFEST!!!!!! Love that.....I cracked Aces with 2-7o when a straight filled up on the river. I couldn't friggin' lose a hand until I ran my 7-4o into Aces. This was well after I won the pushfest...I would've played for real after the contest but I was too tired and my East Coast bones needed rest. This week and next have been pretty hard for getting the kids to day-care and pre-school. Hopefully we can get this routine down and I can eventually get to work on time for once in the past month. Once again getting up and getting ready for work is hard enough...but with a 3+ year old and 3 month old....yikes...
I've become a political junkie over the last 7 years or so. I have to say that Sarah Palin knocked a game winning home run in the playoffs last night. WOW. I didn't give a crap about politics until I was 30...but I can't remember any speech that good by any politician...ever. Lets get serious here for a second (I know this crappy blog is crap but....). John McCain may not be perfect but he is a WAR HERO with the ability to get things done when he wants to. He can get support from Democrats and Republicans like no other politician in the Senate. He seems to be doing all the right things at the right time...including picking another 'Maverick' politician to complement and solidify his campaign. This will put him in office. Forget about online poker and sports for a minute. We are talking about electing the President of the United States. We need some security here. OK? Elect a President that will be able to make other politicians regardless of political party to DO THE RIGHT THING WHEN THEY NEED TO....not when they WANT to.

Back from vacation and back to the grind......
It's no secret that we haven't had the best summer weather up here in the Northeast. Lots of rain in June and July.....not too much in August though. Last week was the best weather of the summer coinciding with my vacation to a nearby beach....Salisbury. It's not easy taking the family too far from home especially with a 3+ yr. old and a 3 month old. My parents inherited a beach house a few years ago and that makes the decision easy.....a late-August week at the beach for free. I had to miss my annual Allman Bros. concert this summer because of the vacation week. Oh well, I've seen them upwards of 20 times so that's life. (my Van Halen curse continues to this day (from 1985......as I had to miss it because Eddie fell of the wagon and delayed the concert twice...the last being the day before my wife gave birth to my second daughter. She actually told me to go...there was no way) I didn't feel like I had a summer before last week. I had a couple of friends and their families come up for a night but I finally had some time to decompress and enjoy the beach with my daughter. I got more exercise chasing and swimming with her then my last 2 years combined. I couldn't sit down for more than 1 minute on the beach...but I was never so happy to be so active. I haven't posted a lot because my poker playing has suffered this month. I just can't get anything brewing for a great tournament run or final table. I made a final table while at the beach...on Bodog...the 6K guarantee...but flamed out in 9th place (I broke down and got one of those wireless USB modems via Sprint....then returned it only a week and a half later). I've been doing pretty well at PokerStars and Bodog this year. Not so much on Full Tilt. I don't know what it is....most people I've looked up do better and are more profitable on PStars than Full Tilt. This is not fiction..this is a fact! Makes me wonder why I play anything but Bloggaments on FTP. I won a couple of 75$ tokens on FTP this week but I'm not sure if I can use them wisely. By that I mean...I can't enter a tourney on a week night before 9:00PM (it's just to crazy in the house before then). I see that the best tourney on FTP for the 75$ token is the 32K at 7:00PM maybe? I might be able to do that on a Fri. or Sat. but not during the week. I also recently saw a new poker room opening or re-opening after closing sometime in '03. Going to have to check that one out. I can't wait to play some live poker. I wanted to go to Al's bash at the end of Sept. but that was used as a negotiation weekend. My wife and friends wife go to NYC for the weekend at the end of Sept.....and I go to VEGAS in DECEMBER for the WPBT weekend. I don't favor any blogger over any other.....can't we all get along? I look forward to meeting more people this year (and actually remembering some of them the next day....long story but this guy might have a funny story to tell). I know I would be a lot happier if this guy was going also....hopefully the job search doesn't prevent him from going! Last year we were sitting at the mixed games table at the MGM. I was cruising along and raking pots and then two people put me on tilt for different reasons. One is this chick for obvious reasons (she sat down and had this tight t-shirt on....then stretched and arched her back and these huge hands...ahem! Took my attention away and I couldn't concentrate) and none other than Dutch Boyd. Dutch...no offense dude but you seem like kind of a douche........

Last night...the first LivePokerRadio tourney. I was cruising back to the top 3 when I get all my money in after the flop with KK against those bitches-QQ and lose when the third Q falls on the turn. (NH Pebbles...it hurt though...especially getting hit over the head with the Bronto-Ribs) That sucked but this does not suck...........

...and then there were 300.....that is the number of posts on this verbal dumping ground! I wish I had some kind of story to tie in with the 300th post and my weird fascination with Mediterranean based myths...but I don't. I've been playing a ton on PStars lately and have been doing quite well. I think I'll miss the Silver VIP status though. I think I need another 300 points of something by the time the 31st is done. The baby and the 3+ year old have been taking all of my time....I mean....where the F has the summer gone? It's almost August and it doesn't even feel like I've been out of the house. My vacation week isn't until the 3rd week of August...at least we are staying at a local beachhouse. Local being Salisbury beach.....I'm looking forward to that. Although I get the antsy for some poker while there and there is no phone line on my side of the cottage. I guess I'll have to break down and buy one of those Verizon wireless cards. Last year I was like a sick poker junkie running around the cottage desperately trying to keep a wireless connection for more than a half hour.
On Monday night I went a little off kilter and bought into some tourneys that I've never bought directly into before. The 100+9 and a bunch of those 30+3 NLHE tourneys. I got taken to school.....stayed up all night....and have nothing to show for it. I do however want to jump back on to Full Tilt for some Donk-tacular action. This is probably not good for my bankroll as I've never won anything on Full Tilt except a Bloggerment. Well I'm a glutton for punishment and the ultimate Donk-fest...the Mookie and probably the Dookie tonight! I'll leave the juicy (fast) no-limit tables and low limit NLHE tourneys for some silly Full Tilt suckouts. This is usually the other way around for most bloggers but PokerStars>Full Tilt for me. My 'BAD MOVE' post
I wasn't able to do anything with my Sunday major buy-ins that I won into via satellite. I crashed in the Bodog 100k...just by being card dead. I had my share of hands in the 'biggest Sunday Million prize pool ever' tournament. I just played a couple of hands badly...it took 2 hands in a row....and I was out. I ran my decent hands into really good hands. Such as life.
I did however final table the nightly 10 short-handed NLHE at 11:30PM Eastern. I finished third for 600.00 (It's been my best tourney by far as I made 3 final tables in 3 or 4 months and my biggest score for 2,250.00 back in late March). I have no idea why i've been killing the NLHE short-handed format....I really can't pinpoint it.......Here is the icing on this posts cake and my ultimate demise :

I crashed out of the 25+2.50 tourney tonight on Stars...I had Ad-Kd...and the other guy went all-in with KxKx....can you believe that I didn't out flop him?
Yeah....boyeeeeeee!!!!! The Bodog 100K on Sundayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy........
Full Tilt is still really awkward for me....I should stick to bloggaments........or maybe just short-handed NLHE............diaper break.............
