So, the wife and I went to Foxwoods on Christmas night. We had spent enough time with the family...so...don't go and get all high and mighty on us now. It took a while to get there since there was some traffic...I thought there might be no traffic but there is traffic 24/7 these days. I think we got there around 3:30 or so. My mother-in-law wanted to spend time with our daughter and told us to "go have a good time". Far be it from me not to have a good time at Foxwoods. We had plenty of time to kill...so we went straight for the bar. I thought this may be a good time to bring up the WPBT during the summer. She has the summer off...being a teacher and all. I figured I haven't gotten to one yet so this may be a good time. July is the next one I think..but I also read some blogs where they said that "all good things must come to an end..." wait.....I haven't gotten there yet!
We had reservations at the restaurant 'Al Dente' at 6:00. So after some drinks and some quality time alone we head down to the restaurant. We ordered food....wine....and then a family of four comes through the door and talks to the host. I look over...then I look at the four seat table next to us....I said "There sitting here next to us"....my wife is like "no way". Soon enough we have a family of four with a 15 mo. old toddler and a 4 year old sitting next to us. Sure enough the 15 mo. old is throwing stuff around and causing chaos. They order a bowl of noodles or something.... Why are you bringing your kids into the low-light/high-end restaurant when there is a family restaurant right next door? I don't get it....some people are clueless. No offense but if we didn't have a 20 mo. old toddler ourselves I would have asked to move. I mean they were nice...the kids were nice...but you're ordering a bowl of $20.00 noodles for gods sake.
Gamble time. My wife heads for the slots...for a while then goes to bed at 8:30. I'm going to the poker room thank you. I signed up for the 1-2 NL...as usual. This table had a full mix of amazingly loose-aggressive asians, a couple of fat white guys like me, crazy Koreans, ridiculous Russians, and Pot-Jamming Jews. I noticed this before I even sat down! I bought in for 200.00 (max is 300 now..used to be 100). Few people left the table over the course of the next 6 hours...I may have been there longer. For most of the night the table was as follows...to my left was two guys who switched seats with each other in the 5th and 6th seats. I was in the fourth seat across from the dealer. One guy was a loose-aggressive Korean? The other guy who switched seats with him a couple of times was a chunky Hispanic looking kind of guy. I realized later the reason they switched seats was due to the fact that they had to visit the ATM more than once and they would switch seats to change their luck....it didn't work to well. Next to them in the 8th seat was this skinny white guy with sun glasses...he was good. He didn't say a word all night (had a scar on the side of his face)...but he was tight-aggressive. Next to him was crazy-loose Asian guy in the 9th seat. Not to sure about this but I think Kim Jong-Il was in the 10 seat. There was a fat white guy there earlier who was a pretty good player but he went home and Kim (North Korean dictator) took his place. I say this because he looked exactly like him. Earlier in the evening a young kid from Conn. was sitting to my right and I was joking about Kim Jong-Il sitting across the table...he had no idea what I was talking about. I asked him if he had seen 'Team America'...he says "yeah"....I said he was the "Korean dictator who they made fun of the whole movie"...he says "Osama Bin-Ladin"? Jeez...Kids today. I'm 36 but this kid made me feel like a wise old genius. I told him to look up 'Kim Jong-Il' when he goes on the Internet....check into some current events dude...OK! Anyway, the guy in the 1st seat was another white guy who "lives 2 miles away". He was a funny guy. During the course of the evening a Russian guy sat down at the table in early position. He had these other two guys looking over his shoulder. They were all really well dressed...almost like some Russian Mafia types. He got knocked out pretty quickly...as he was walking away I quoted a line from a movie. I said "In my country...we cut ov fingerth" in my best Russian accent...the guy in the 1st seat says "What, mine of yours"? in his best Chevy Chase (Spies like Us) impersonation. We started howling and high-fiving each other across the table...fucking hilarious. We stopped laughing and all that stuff when all 3 Russian Mafioso turned around and looked back at the table....oops!...they walked away...I don't even think they heard us...but..they were all built like linebackers so both of us just shut up. I have to say it's frustrating when the wait staff can't come by the table with regularity. They come by 5 times in an hour then 1 in hour....it sucks. In the 2nd seat was this other Russian guy who was there for a couple of hours. He was a calling station and I got into it with him with my K's. This is how the hand went. I had K's under the gun...I raised to 10....guy a couple of seat over from me raised to 20. The Russian guy calls. Everybody else folds. I called and a flop of Qx-6x-7x falls. The Russian guy goes all-in for about 35-40 more...I called. The guy that raised me folded his pocket J's. The Russian guy calls a raised and a re-raise with Qx-7x.....crazy but typical in 1-2 NL at foxwoods. An 8x falls on the turn and the beautiful 6 falls on the river....I win with the higher two pair! He walks away and is replaced by a bunch of people throughout the next few hours. A Bunch of people filled in the seats 3 and 4 in the next few hours but one of them was a crazy raisin' Asian. He was loose-aggressive but Kim Jong-Il busted him and a few others after raising and pushing into to many pots. I did get Aces at some point during the night. I raised everybody out but the calling station. I preceded to make him pay me off in a big way on each street. You know its a good night when your K's and A's don't get cracked. I got paid off in a big way from both. There were these two Israeli looking guys who sat to my right for a while. One left after playing every hand...he played them well but the other guy got knocked out by Kim Jong-Il as well. Two black guys came to fill in the table when seats opened up. One of them kept pushing to double-up but to no avail. Both were sent home soon enough. At around 4:00AM I started to lose concentration. I left at +130 so I had fun. I walked into the room at 4:30 and my wife was just getting up. She tends to get up at 5:00AM whether she has to or not. She goes to the slots at 5:30 and precedes to hit a 650.00 dollar pot on a 1.00 slot machine. We both ended up leaving with much more than we went with so this Christmas was excellent!
I can't believe how much foxwoods is growing..I checked out the progress on their expansion....it's probably going to be done in the spring. The place is so big...I walked by the bingo hall at 4:15AM....the place is like a football field. Rumours were flying about a dealer strike on New Years eve also. I asked a couple of dealer in the poker room and they said that it was true. They've been getting 100% benefits for a long time and Foxwoods wants to cut them to be a little more competitive with the norm. They better be careful of they will lose their dealers to Mohegan Sun in the Spring. BTW Mohegan Sun is opening a highly rumored new poker room with expansion this Spring also. I will have to check that out...I suppose it will be impossible to go unless it is during a week night though.

I Bubbled again...
This time in the WWdN. I'm on a bubble streak like never before. 4 tournaments in the past month including one live charity tourney. It seems like there is one critical mistake that does me in each time and dooms me to the dreaded bubble. This time I had 'Astin' sitting to my right...I had 9x-4x0 and a flop of Qx-6x-Qx fell. I was in the BB so I had to check. He/She checked and a 9x fell on the turn. I checked just in case and 'Astin' went all in with about T4,500 to my T4,200. I figured the button was coming soon and 'Astin' may be slow playing a Queen. I folded. Big mistake. 'Wigginx' raised just about every hand after that. I lost a pot and was down to 1,800 soon after. My last hand I had Ah-3h..inst-push into the BB. He has As-Ks...and I am toast. Out 6th on the bubble. This was extremely frustrating and I shut the PC down and crashed in bed. I couldn't stick around for the 'ITM' play and after....I was sick and tired. I thought I played well but that's poker. Easy money some of the time....Dead money some of the time....never easy money all the time. I see that there are a couple of players from the N.E. area on these tourneys...I know about 'Hammerlovers' blog but I wonder if xlm25...something or other has one. He's from Nashua, NH...give me an email. (vze2tbkc@verizon.net) Maybe someday we can venture out to Vegas for the WPBT summer classic or something. I really want to get out to meet some of these other bloggers....and I don't want to look like a total fucking Noob that doesn't know anybody.
My daughter was still awake for the first hour and I couldn't fully pay attention. It's another one of my 'Don't do' list of things for Poker. That is play poker while the daughter is sick or not sleeping. She fell asleep well before the first break and I was able to concentrate. I don't do this often...especially lately since she has been sick with another ear-infection. The past two weeks have been interesting and tough. This is the second ear-infection in the past 6 months. The last time my wife and I were at the hospital until 4:30 AM. This time however we at least knew what we were in for. So anyway, since she was feeling better I was really looking forward to this tourney. I was playing very well after the first hour and soon made my way to the final table. I doubled up at the final table but a bad bluff and a non-call sealed my bubble-fate again. I think every tourney player must go through this phase...before they start winning them. Money is a little tight lately also so I'm not sure if I'll be playing on PStars until the holidays are over. I've been playing a lot of UB tourneys but funds aren't exactly being replenished with a healthy win rate.
I'm breaking tradition this year for Christmas....I'll be at foxwoods! My wife is from the south shore of Mass. and usually we go from her mothers house back up north to my parents house on the way back to our own house. BUT NOT THIS YEAR!!! My daughter will be able to spend quality time with her grandmother and my wife and I will be headed for the Woods! I'll see my whole family on Christmas eve anyway...why see them all day for two days in a row? If anybody is looking to play some poker at foxwoods on Christmas night then send an email and I'll meet you in the poker room eventually (probably after 8:00PM).
Miscellany : Red Sox (spending like a drunken sailor on shore leave) have been making the right moves for this season. Bullpen improvement-Top notch. Outfield improvement-Very nice (if Nancy Drew's shoulder is medically sound and can play more than Trot). Starting pitching-Top Notch! Lineup-Top Notch! Defense-not so much (but it didn't do much for them last year or the year that they won the World Series. Spend away! It's not my money....and it already is the most expensive seat in MLB. I really like the fact that the Sox are making in-roads to the Japanese market. The Dice-Man cometh!!! The Pats are looking good and headed to the playoffs again. Once again...I trust Bill. He has earned the right to make a couple of mistakes. He is to football what the Dice-Man is to Japanese baseball.....DOMINANT! I haven't played any live poker for a while (except of course the Rebuy tourney that I bubbled at Rockingham Park in NH) and I am looking forward to playing the degenerates that will be at Foxwoods on Christmas night (except for me I'm no degenerate just dedicated). I guess it's been a while since I last posted. There's just so much interesting stuff to read on the internet/blogs etc. Check into that Brandy Hawbaker/Capt. Tom Franklin/'Dutch' Boyd fiasco....fascinating stuff....perfect fodder for Pauly to elaborate on.

New Look same content

What do you think of the spiffy new template for the blog? Who am I asking? I think maybe one or two people may see this...anyways....
I got sick of the old look on Pokerandmisc so here you go. Go tell everybody...PokahDave is ready! Ready to post the same old bad beats and miscellaneous crap. I've been playing a lot of low buy-in tourneys on UB and PStars. I tried the 3 RB on PStars last night...I didn't make the money but I lost some of course. I also bubbled the 1.00 RB on UB...out at 61....60 get paid...but only 6.30 or something. I had A-10c....and I was the short stack...what the hell else am I going to do? Fold? Lately i've been trying to blast through the bubble...it's nerve wracking without a big stack but I used to fold to the money. This is where I need some improvement...play around the money bubble. I do think that one final table in a big tournament is worth a hundred small cashes so we'll see how this turns out. I guess I'll be able to play quite a few since I'm NOT IN VEGAS! I actually may be at Rockingham Park this Sunday to get in some live poker. I bubbled the 40.00 rebuy last time I was there...6th place out of 50-5 places paid...sigh. Just remember 1 final table in a large tourney is better than 100 ITM's.

You Better You Bet
When I say I love you you say you better
You better you better you bet
When I say I need you you say you better
You better you better you bet
You better bet your life
Or love will cut you like a knife
-Pete TownsendYou better you better you bet
When I say I need you you say you better
You better you better you bet
You better bet your life
Or love will cut you like a knife
I saw 'The Who' on Saturday at the Boston Garden. They did not disappoint this self-professed sucker for classic rock. I also found a web page that has Pete Townsend's diary thing on it... he's talking about Zak Starky (Ringo Starr's son....Zak.....blows him away on the drums...seriously....he gives the Who energy that they need) the drummer for 'The Who' among other bands. The new album translates well 'live'. I heard it on the radio and thought it sounded a lot like 'Classic' era stuff. The fact that they sound so good over 40 years after they started is nothing short of miraculous. There are plenty of 'YouTube' videos that will back that opinion up. I get goosebumps when they break into 'Amazing Journey/Sparks'. If you haven't heard the most powerful performance by any band then go listen to the remastered version of 'Live at Leeds'....it's incredible.
I haven't been doing much in the poker world. I can't go to the WPBT winter classic and that shouldn't surprise anyone. I want to meet these people who keep stacking me in the WPBT tourneys and the WWdn.not. I also want to meet the people who's blogs I read all the time and reduce my workplace productivity....but I can't. I'll just have to settle for the smaller buy-in tourneys that I can still afford. If I didn't have two mortgages and ten-thousand other bills I would be able to play a hell of lot more. I made my financial situation so...stop bitchin' Dave....
I've been playing a lot of low buy-in PL Omaha Hi/Lo, Razz, and Seven-Card Stud Hi/Lo tourneys. PokerStars is getting better at offering these types of tournament for the low-limit poker hack. There is a 1.00 buy-in HORSE tournament every night that packs 'em in...lots of fun to be had with these tourneys. I should make a Friday night tournament on PokerStars. Maybe I'll call it the 'FriDave'. I'm usually not going out anywhere on a Friday...especially during the Winter months. I just don't know if anybody will show up. I guess I'll check into it....maybe get a DS NL tourney or something.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! There I said it....PC people be damned! This should be the best Christmas ever...my daughter will be 19 months old tomorrow.....man did that go by fast! This post doesn't make much sense but neither does anything else in this humble blog. I should call it 'Poker and lots of other shit' or something like that. Nah, that's already taken. It's just a place for me to blow off steam. Feel free to correct any grammatical errors.

Aggressive play Good...Sometimes Bad
I checked out the local Horse Track/PokerRoom and it was impressive to say the least. They
are running quite an operation at Rockingham Park. I had this idea back in 2002 when they decided to shut down the live horse racing. I mean...it's already setup for a card room really....all that's missing is the carpeting. The place was packed...lots of old timers and "kidpokerpros". Funny thing...I graduated high school with two of the guys who work for/own BayStatePoker. I got to talking with them and rumor has it Rockingham Park may expand the poker room hours to the whole weekend and more! I say rumor because it hasn't been decided on yet. They run a great tournament....breaks weren't too long or too short. The dealers were all very knowledgeable. The structures for the tourneys are also good. I played in the 40.00-Re buy tourney and you start with T2,000. You can re buy for either 20.00 or 40.00 for T1,000 or T2,000. There are also a ton of Sit'n'Gos up to 150.00! That's a bit much for me but the 40.00 Sit'n'Go sounds doable. I didn't play any ring-games but every single table seemed to be full. The bets can only go 1-2 because of local laws but hey....who am I to complain about that? They also had Bernard Lee there for Poker coaching/lessons. I met the guy and he is an extremely nice guy and apparently is tearing up the tournament circuit lately.
So I bought in to the 40.00 dollar re buy at about 6:00PM. The first table is always the longest in the tournament so to my left was "Kid PartyPoker"-didn't look old enough to drink a beer ...to his left was some guy I can't remember...to his left was the gambling Grandma (don't we all have one of those!)...to her left was this middle-aged guy who said "I don't trust you" when he saw me observing the way he played a hand....to his left was some sideways hat goofball....to his left was a young guy that was afraid to lose his first buy-in (I told him to re buy but I don't think he understood the way it works-he also told everybody what his hand was in one way or the other)...to his left was a guy that looked like...well I don't know...I'll just call him Donald Trump (good player...I've played against him in a tournament before)...to his left was a middle-aged woman who gambles a lot (pretty good player but she was forced off of a lot of hands)...to her left and my right was a late 20's guy that played pretty well. "Kid PartyPoker" next to me was running over the table for a good hour...he had a huge stack of chips...he caught trips when he played small pairs and an ace when he played any ace so he was doing well. I talked to him about Internet sites and he seems to have a good grasp on the re buy-tourney strategy as opposed to the kid that was extremely passive. I took down a few key pots with 7h/2h (got the flush on the river) and got gambling grandma to go all-in with trips. She re bought 3 times or so. I took down another big pot with K's. The guy who "didn't trust me" went all-in with Ax-Qx...and didn't catch. The biggest pot of the night was me taking out two people after the Add-on break. I was in late position...the Guy "who didn't trust me" raised....sideways hat goofball went all-in....and I looked down at Ah-As...so naturally I went over the top and went all-in. The guy "who didn't trust me" (sounds like a James Bond Movie) called all-in with 9c-10c and the sideways-hat goofball had 9d-Jd (Two great A's cracking hands). I was a little freaked out about that but after all the cards came out I knocked out two people and chipped up big time. I moved to the last two tables after that. I took out another guy who had A-x and went all-in with his last 3,500 or so. I had Ah-Qh so I called and got my flush on the turn. I had about T23,000 at this time so I was looking good for the final table. I should have raised a couple of pre-flop pots on the second-to-last table to build up the chip stack but we weren't there for long (50-something entered...probably less than 55 and 5 placed were paid...1,200.00 for first place down to 150.00 for 5th).
The final table : to my left was an older guy who seemed knowledgeable about the game (as that would haunt me later)...to his left was this old curmudgeonly dude (imagine ol' man Withers in any Scooby-Doo episode who proves to be the criminal mastermind and is "Foiled again by you meddling kids!")...to his left was some middle aged Italian/Greek guy I think...I'm not sure but his accent was hard to peg (He kept getting called out for string bets...so I think he was lucky to be there)...to his left was the tourney chip leader (Cocky dude who was pretty drunk....but I would have been that way if I had the stack of chips too)....to his left was 'Donald Trump'....to his left was some old dude (Sopranos character for sure who I've played against in tournaments before)....to his left was a guy who got knocked out on the first hand...to his left and my right was a guy about my age who was REALLY patient (that would haunt me eventually also). I basically made one bad steal-the-blinds move at the wrong time. The guy to my left had Kx-Qx in the SB. The old curmudgeonly guy had 7x-7x in the BB....I had the 'Jackhammer' Jx-4x and I decided to raise 3X the BB which was 2,000 at the time....guy next to me goes all-in and prevents the BB from going all-in (as the old curmudgeonly guys with pockets pairs and short stacks will do..try to fold to the money). I called the SB for about 4,000 more and I caught a 4 on the flop. He catches a K on the river...fuck me.....I was crippled by that steal. My mistake is apparent. Don't bluff the short stacks with a slightly bigger stack. Anyway as the story goes the old curmudgeonly guy yells at me "What are you doing raising me! You darn whippersnapper!" and I simply said "Why are you yelling at me when you had a short-stack and didn't call with a pocket pair?" He would have caught a set as a 7x fell on the flop also!. I get yelled at by old guys who play NL and hate aggressive play and Old Asian ladies when playing Blackjack. Old curmudgeonly guy goes out 7th and I go out 6th. The last hand I was down to T6,000 which at the time was the BB. I had Kx-6x and went all-in under-the-gun (I really didn't want to be in the Blind for my last hand) everybody folded except the BB who (patient guy next to me) had Kx-8x...and to honestly we both caught two pair....my K's and 6's and his K's and 8's....can you say "Bubble-Bitch?"

Poker (all its variations live or on-line)
Sports (Real and Fantasy....my fantasy ESPN football team is 10-0-1...the tie is only because I had D. McNabb and M. Colston on my decimated team last week)
The new 'card room' at the old Horse Track that my Grandfather used to bring me to...which is only about 5 miles away from my house....Woohoo!!
Bad Beats on PokerStars and UltimateBet to keep me humble. Download from the latter links to keep my degeneracy alive and the Bad Beats coming....
The N.E. Patriots

The U.S.A. - I mean really...if you can't deal with the laws we have here then get the fuck out........

Say it isn't so Iggy
Your calling quits!? GuinnessandPoker was the first poker blog that I read. I guess the rest is history....check out this gem of a tribute......even though i've never met the elusive Iggy I have to say that he's some sort of marketing genius. I think that he states in his blog that he is involved with advertising or marketing.....indeed.....

Reality :
Teh people have spoken....Dems it is across the board and soon to be across the U.S. in '08.
I am concerned with the future of Massachusetts and the U.S. but what am I going to do about it now? I voted so I'll go with the results. I read a great post about the Reality of the situation...one that I cannot control but I will live with. Special K puts it all in perspective like I wanted to but couldn't...
Lately i've been playing a lot of low buy-in tourneys at UB and PokerStars. I forgot how much I love playing those. I'll mix in a 10.00-25.00 buy-in now and then with pretty good results also. The more experience I get with these the better the results...again....patience is 'King'. The key to these huge-field tourneys is patience. I also tried Bodog in the past couple of weeks...I hate the software...I don't know maybe I just hate the software crashing on me in the middle of a big hand in a tournament. It has happened to me in the past on UB but it looks like those problems are past. I'm going to have to exercise some patience this weekend if I decide to play in the WPBT Stud/8 tourney. Lately i've been pretty aggressive with some bad results...we'll see. Last Saturday I drank keg beer at my buddies house and then attacked the Bud Light 16oz. Aluminum bottles...they went down so fast. I think I must've had 20 beers by the end of the night when I got knocked out of the 20.00+2.00 NL tourney on Stars. I got knocked out in 29th place....I can't really remember with what. I would have made the final table if I wasn't so tanked. I'm going to have to watch that when I get deep into a tourney like that...I could have cost myself a bunch of potential money.

I wanna be ELECTED!
Ugh....what an uncomfortable feeling I have on this election Tuesday. I don't think that voting DEVIL Patrick in as Massachusetts next Governor is going to help keep people in state. This friggin' guy wants to give 'illegal aliens' drivers licenses. When did 'illegal aliens' become 'immigrants' anyway. The media paints this as people "just trying to work on jobs that nobody else will work at" and blah blah blah....I don't get it. Be careful what you wish for people...YOU MIGHT JUST GET IT! The media in Massachusetts makes me uncomfortable....and I was born here. Watching Devil Patrick be ushered in by all these tax-loving democrats is just an unsettling feeling. It's like watching a recent Bill Murray movie....you know...a comedian who desperately wants and craves to be taken as a serious actor. After you see the movie you have to watch how disappointed Bill is while he watches somebody else capture the much deserved academy award. Uncomfortable. Unsettling. Inevitable. Every politician in Massachusetts will be a Democrat. I wasn't paying any attention to Michael Dukakis when he was governor but as I look back and read up on the history of his term....I cringe. That's what we are headed for people...Dukakival Patrick.....Devolve Patrick.... "Can we raise taxes to never before seen heights...YES WE CAN"!..."Can we give Illegal Aliens in state tuition and drivers licenses?....YES WE CAN"!..."Can we drive Taxachusetts into the highest taxed and least affordable place to live in the U.S.A?...YES WE CAN"! This is our future people...Unless you vote with your conscience. Enough said...I didn't even get started with the national elections...Nancy 'Bela' Pelosi wants to bury you all in debt to cover for the dregs of society for beginners. As an online poker player I'm not happy with the recent legislative move to ban online gambling. That being said...it's no reason to go ahead and vote anti-Republican. Just be aware Bill Frist will never be a candidate for President OK!....he's far to 'out there' to represent the Republican party in 2008 or 2012. There are more important things in the world people. I for one would like to keep taxes low and YES there is a global war on terrorism whether you care or not.

36 on the 30th
Well, I haven't posted much lately. I decided to take a couple days off from work for my 36th birthday and Halloween. I usually get home from work on Halloween too late to take out my 1.5 year old daughter....wait a minute....I couldn't take her out to TrickorTreat before this year anyway....but I digress. Last year I carried her to the next door neighbors....this year she practically ran down the hill...I actually had to chase her for a second! The rest of the TrickorTreat time was spent trying to calm her down from her sugar high. I also handed out candy to the locals (cute kids in costumes and slacker teenagers with no costume and bad attitudes. If you have no costume then don't come to my door looking for candy! Two punks walked up to my door with nothing but fat and attitude dripping off of them. I shit you not...one kid walked up to my door and stood there while I was holding the candy. He looks at me after standing there for a few seconds and says "What...you expect me to pick the candy up too?" I looked at him and his fat little friend and told them to get lost....ahhh wonderful Lawrence, Massachusetts. Then a half hour later my neighbors across the street were talking to each other and some punks shot a paint gun at them. It was an automatic so a bunch of pellets smashed on the poor ladys townhouse (white paint on the wall and pink paint pellets from the punk in the car)and one also hit the next door neighbor's wife in the leg. This town is pretty fucked up.
I had to cancel a Sunday night trip to Mohegan Sun because a buddy of mine was going to be in court (testifying...not for himself). The Sunday night cancellation allowed me to play the WPBT Stud event...a whopping 17 or 18 people showed up! I should have stayed away seeing as how I flamed out first. I played well....but I didn't have any luck. The two hands that crippled me and knocked me out were ridiculous. I believe it was BadBlood who replied to someone elses comment "That was more like a friggin' Train-Wreck!".....that about sums it up. The first ridiculous hand was a crippling blow by the hand of Hoyazo. We both had A-high fucking flushes...I think he had A-Q high flush to my A-J high flush....I didn't look at the hand history but it was that bad. I also had A's so I think I played it correct when I was drawing to my flush....which we both hit on 7th street. Again, I could be wrong about the exact hands but I didn't play it wrong. The second hand that knocked me out was one of the UpForPoker dudes. He had the 2-7-2...I think (again I didn't look at the hand history since I had to smash some furniture after the hand knocked me out) I had K-8-8. I knew he had nothing but position on me...he raised..I re-raised...he called...I was all-in soon thereafter. I thought that he had 2's...that was until 7-street brought another 2 for a set. Again, I may be wrong about the last hand but my read was right. So I'm not doing well lately in the WPBT. I have been doing well at these ultra-low buyin Turbo MTT's on UltimateBet. I miss playing at UltimateBet...some of my biggest wins were on that site a couple of years ago. I'm still an ultra-low stakes player to this day.
I had nothing to do on Monday the 30th (my 36th birthday thank you)so I decided to head down to Foxwoods! I went with the intention of playing the 100.00 super-sattelite that is usually offered and starts at 10:00AM. Well due to traffic and bad weather I got there at 10:30AM and found out it was cancelled. I figured I'll try a couple of ACTI STT's (Foxwoods has ACTI tourneys for 45+15...place in top three and get a buy-in to a 100+20 ACTII...place first and get a 1050 buy-in to an ACTIII...place in top 10% and get a buy-in the BigOne-10,000 WPT event Fall Poker Classic) I placed 3rd in the second ACTI to get a buy-in to the 120 ACTII....which I placed 4th in and got nothing. Second place gets another 120 for another ACTII. After three different ACT tourneys I needed a change of pace....1-2 NL Hold'em. I sat down and the action seemed pretty crazy as usual. I bought in for 100.00 because the cap 'used to be' 100. They raised it to 300.00 on Sunday the 29th. After a few hours I brought my total to about 220.00...but after a few more hours I lost concentration and left with about 50.00. I should rename myself A.D.D.....Attention Deficit Dave. I just lost concentration after playing in the same game for 6 hours. I can usually do this without a problem but not lately. I made the most money on a pocket pair of Queens and lost the most on A-Qo. Go figure...they giveth and taketh away. During the time I spent there I noticed some people. (Greg Brady lookalike who sat next to me and his name is Barry...isn't that the real name of Greg Brady?....) There was also assorted punks with sideways hats and headscarves?? and assorted piercings in their faces. The sidways hat thing bugs me the most...just want to slap the shit out the kid.....of course they always have the ghetto attitude...like the punks that came to my door on Halloween. There was also some guy playing in the ACT tournaments who looked like a cross between Bad Santa and the Gorton's fisherman.....yeah...he was a hoot. There was another guy who sat next to me who could've passed for Tony Danza...or at least I would've believed him if he told me he was his brother. I also saw another guy sitting at a table that was a virtual mountain of flesh...I mean this guy was huge. He looked like he was wearing a tire made of flesh around his neck! I'm not exactly in the greatest of shape but this guy is going to have a heart attack if somebody suprises him or scares him. Which in all honesty is possible seeing as how distracted I was with these assorted freaks. I guess I just answered my own problem...I was distracted by freaks. I lost concentration at the table because it was like a Halloween costume party in the Foxwoods poker room. The table behind us started up a 150-300 limit hold'em game....there were another bunch of mooks at that table. Some guy who looks like a Sopranos' character rakes a huge pot, looks at the rest of the guys at the table and states "Yeah...you fuckin homos....just another day at Foxwoods"!

Interesting hands...Straight down to the felt!
I played at the local bar last night(40.00 NL tournament). There are always good players there.....and there are an equal amount of bad players. I was sitting at a tough table. There were 3 hands that got me flustered.
The first one was a pocket pair of 10's. Some guy across the table re-raised my T300 raise(it was extremely early in the tournament)with T1400....I figured him for a high pocket pair. He showed 9's after somebody else called and they checked it down. I would have hit my straight on the river with a board of Jx, Qx, 9x, 3x, and an 8x.
The second one I had a pocket pair of Q's. The short stack at the table (who I would battle with at the end) went all-in T1000 with Qx, Jx....I went all-in over the top with about T1450. The guy to my left calls (he has a good stack of chips) with Ax-Kx. After the carnage the board reads 10x, Qx, 9x, 2x, 8x...straight on the river...this would become the theme for the rest of the night. I took the side pot for about T900 and the guy who won with the straight takes the main pot. He has about T2500 now...
The third and last hand for both of us happened about 10 minutes before the break. The guy who took the majority of my stack on the last hand. He is early in position and bets out 900 (blinds were at SB150-BB300)I was in middle position with pocket 10's again and I called all-in. Another guy from late position calls for T900 and the chip monster (who bet me off my 10's earlier and now has a monster chipstack) calls T900...the flop....8s, 10s, 7x....I was fucking pumped....ready to quadruple-up! So the guy that started the hand in early postion goes all-in 'he must have a hand' I thought. I was already all-in so I was looking for the chip monster to call....and he did. After what seemed an eternity of histrionics and hollywood acting he calls. Early position bettor-8x 8x, Me-10d-10c, late caller who folded early position guys all-in Ax-Jx and Chip Monster 9x-9x again with OESD!
Now the board is 10s-8s-7h....the turn was Kd....and much to my chagrin the PartyPoker fucking 6 on the river. He hits the river straight AGAIN!!!!! The bar was very loud during this hand...people screaming at the top of their lungs...it was pretty exciting to play there again (It's only been a month and a half but it feels like a year). My quote "Nice fucking six on the river you fucking cocksucker"! It probably sounded like "Nice fucken six on the rivah..you fucken cocksuckah!" I never do that but I just up and blurted it out. I was probably belligerent due to the fact that I can't get out much anymore (wife back in school for another advanced degree and toddler at home)and it's going to hurt if I can't play online anymore in the future. So much for my calm demeanor. He smiled and just raked a monster pot into his already massive chipstack, knocked out two players, and crippled another.

Razzzzzzzzzzzz and the WPBT
Dear Razz,
You seem like a such a cool game but you really are a pain in the azzzz. Why do I get awesome 7-Card stud hands whenever I'm playing with you Razz...are you screwing around or something? Even when I have a decent starting hands you tease me by giving me a brick card on 4th street. Even when I have 4 low cards you give a brick on 5th street. Why? Is this some kind of sick joke? I have a great starting hand and you deliver two other low cards to pair both my hole cards...are you fucking serious? I don't mind when you hang around with your group of buddies HE, O, O8 and stud8 to form the gang known as H.O.R.S.E. but to hang around with you alone for an hour or two is annoying. Thanks a lot..because of you I tried to bluff somebody with the last of my chips. I needed you to deliver a 5th card to my 4 card hand...and you deliver a brick QUEEN on the river! You suck Razz. I'm going to find another game to hang around with.
Sincerely,
PokahDave

I don't mind when you hang around with your group of buddies HE, O, O8 and stud8 to form the gang known as H.O.R.S.E. but to hang around with you alone for an hour or two is annoying. Thanks a lot..because of you I tried to bluff somebody with the last of my chips. I needed you to deliver a 5th card to my 4 card hand...and you deliver a brick QUEEN on the river! You suck Razz. I'm going to find another game to hang around with.
Sincerely,
PokahDave
